Using the Rotary name
Q: Can the word “Rotary” be used alone in the name of my project or event, such as the “Rotary Botanical Garden”?
A: No. All projects and event names need to include the name of the club or district to make it clear that the affiliation is with the club or district, and not with Rotary International. In this example, you could use the name “Rotary Club of Springfield Botanical Garden.” However, according to the Rotary Code of Policies, a club can use its club name for a project or event only if the club is in full control.
Q: We are Rotary members from different clubs who are working together on a common goal. We’re not associated with a specific Rotary program or club. Can we create a logo that includes the Rotary logo?
A: No. According to the Rotary Code of Policies, only clubs, districts, zones, and official Rotary entities, such as Rotary Action Groups and Rotary Fellowships, can use Rotary’s logos, and they must add their own name to the logo.
Q: Can I use “Rotary” alone in my club website’s URL?
A: No. Your club website’s URL should be the name of your club, such as rotaryclubofchicago.com. URLs without a club or district identifier, such as rotaryhappy.com, are not allowed.
